SEUSSICAL the MUSICAL                      Auditions

WHEN:

Friday, January 21 or Saturday, January 22.  Sign up at link below to reserve your time slot.

WHO:

Youth in grades 1-12 may audition.

WHERE:

Auditions are at Memorial United Methodist Church, 2701 Poplar, Terre Haute.

Enter on the south side of the building through the door that does not have an awning.

MASKS:

Masks are required at all times and must cover the nose and mouth. (The director may allow mask lowered when singing for the committee, but the singer must be spaced more than six feet from others.)  Masks are also required at rehearsals and should be put on prior to entering the building.

SIGN UP FOR AN AUDITION SPOT:

This year we are asking you sign up for a time slot to audition.  Please go to the following link to sign up for the time you would like to audition.  The hope is to eliminate long wait times and crowds.

BEFORE YOU COME:

Audition forms should be printed and completed prior to arrival (click download below).  If you do not have access to a printer, forms will be available at the door but be prepared to answer all the questions on the form.

For safety, return to your car to complete the form.  Parents should leave during the youth's audition.  We wish to keep the crowd small.

PRACTICE BEFORE YOU COME:

Choreographer Brandon Halleck will post a dance video on Facebook this weekend. Have fun learning it at home.

Know the song you will sing.

Study the audition scripts (see buttons below).  You will be assigned one by the committee.  It is best to study all.  Do not worry if it is not the part you prefer.  At the initial reading, the casting committee is looking at projection, body language, and your ability to read with meaning.

THE PROCESS:

READ a short scene with an assigned group for the directors. It is important to project and read with expression.

SING a song of your choice. If you have sheet music, we will have someone to accompany. It can be a simple song like “Happy Birthday” or “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.”

DANCE steps are on Facebook and there is a link to the Facebook page when the above buttons are clicked.  Practice this dance prior to auditions for you to show the directors and choreographer. You will be doing the dance with others, it is not a solo.  Wear something easy for movement. You may be asked to do some gymnastics if you have that talent.

PRACTICES:

Monday to Thursday practices will be from 4:15 to 6:00 at Memorial United Methodist Church. Dance practices will be on Fridays from 4:00 to 6:00 at the Dance Studio, 1237 Wabash Avenue.  There may also be some Saturday morning dance practices.

The last two weeks of practice all are required to attend.  (Note this is also the start of Vigo County School Corporation spring break.  Be sure to note any conflicts on your audition form.)  At this time, we will be at Woodrow Wilson for practices which will run later.  Tech practice will be Sunday, April 3 and run most of the afternoon.

PRODUCTION DATES:

Friday, April 8, & Saturday, April 9, at 7:00 PM.  Sunday, April 10, at 3:00.

DID I GET A PART?

Calls will be made Saturday night to youth who are chosen to move forward. If you receive that call, return to the auditions on Sunday at 2:00 with a parent or guardian who can sign a waiver. Also bring the $100 participation fee. (A limited number of scholarships are available based on need.)

But most of all, remember to have fun. And if not chosen, you will have a better understanding of what is involved. Please try again.

Break a leg!
